Some months ago I shared the link to the videos of the documentary about animation I co-produced while working at the New Media Literacies Project at MIT. This time, I would like to introduce the DJ culture documentary, a collection of 8 videos that cover themes such as the mashups and remixes, tools and techniques, and the history of DJ practice. Each video deals with different aspects of the DJ culture through interviews with several practitioners such as Dj Singe, Dj C, Dj Flack, and DJ Spooky that Subliminal Kid.
The videos can be watched in any order, and in both formal and informal educational contexts. They are intended to go along curriculum materials and learning activities that help to develop new media literacies such as play, performance, appropriation, and networking.
